Poem: Reverence of Nature

Native Americans were expert

hunters and warriors

but they had spiritual reverence.

To each animal hunted

They gave thanks and praises:

“Thank you for helping me to survive

You’re my brethren

brother sister family

Circle of life.

Giving your life so I can exist

is the ultimate sacrifice.

I will utilize all of you

Wasting nothing

It’s the least I could do

To show respect and reverence”.

Animals are wiser than humans

in naturalness they’re free of shame

because they’re innocent

unlike us perverted humans

looking for weakness and ways to blame

taking pleasure in the hunt and the game.
