1)
We are all perfect
we’re naturally born that way
we are not mistakes.
2)
If anyone says
you need to change this or that
tell them to fuck off.
3)
Faults make you unique
we’re not androids or clones yet
for now, we’re still real.
4)
Plastic surgery
is a form of self-hatred
permanent costume.
5)
No amount of fake
reconstruction will make you
Love yourself better.
6)
Embrace your wrinkles
your extra layers of fat
love sees through all that.
7)
Media’s a creep
programming us to be freaks
teaching us blindness.
8)
Don’t sell out, be proud
don’t be ruled by their nonsense
stand up for yourself.
9)
No external change
can solve all your life’s problems
stop running away.
1/ We aren’t the mistakes we make…such an important distinction.

I think we aren’t the mistakes we make and we aren’t mistakes at all. This poem fights against the message that we are born in sin, and it’s also a rant against perfectionism.

This is wonderful. Concise, to the point and no bull. Made me sad, then made me smile, then made me bold. The mark of all great poetry I think.
