Wow, diversity really IS the new trend! Asians are finally visible as main characters not as marginalized, backdrop extras. Comedy Central has a new show centered around an Asian American family that isn’t stuck in stereotypes! Yay!
Awkwafina’s grandmother is so cute!😊
B D Wong’s interview with a Trevor Noah, B D portray’s the dad on the show “Nora from Queens”
Not available in my region? Thank goodness for VPN’s.

Darn, the clip wouldn’t play? Glad you got to watch it anyway, I thought the pilot was funny, I want to see more episodes!

I forgot about SNL’s exclusion, I guess they’d say that there weren’t enough female Asian comedians but that’s not true anymore. I think Margaret Cho paved the way for Ali Wong and Awkwafina. I hope there’s more upcoming asian actors and comedians in general.

I hope so too! I don’t always agree with Ali Wong, and I appreciate having a variety of entertainers. I just like having the idea of having an asian comedian, regardless of if I like them or not. Like for example I do not like Andrew yang’s policies, but I am shocked by the possibility of having an asian candidate and asian First Lady, and for that I’ll admire him forever.

I know what you mean about Ali Wong, I don’t really like her 😄 but am glad she’s out there, along with the small group of asian comedians. Variety is good, I agree. I like Andrew Yang but I doubt he’ll win, (his universal income will not happen in this corporately owned country) but I mostly like that he’s not a typical politician. I would have a mini heart attack if he won, finally an Asian US president and First Lady! I bet they would face racism in the office. Sad.

Yes me too! I love how his wife came out with a story of sexual assault by her doctor. She’s so brave. It’s so not asian to embrace pain from a controversial issue and share it with everyone. I love her but I dont think he has the “Obama charisma” that will let voters accept a minority president

Wow, I didn’t know she did that, it is unusual, good for her. Obama had charisma but he disappointed the people that voted for him, including me. His brand was about change, but he bailed out Wall Street among other things. I felt mislead by him and will not vote for Michelle if she ever runs, which I think is highly likely. I bet she’s win in a landslide. I like Andrew Yang because he’s an outsider, I’m so tired of the career politicians (endorsed and bought by the corporations). Yang comes across as an Asian nerd with his MATH brand, haha but I prefer nerdy earnestness vs slick charisma any day! I agree with you though that voters won’t elect him. Sad that people value image vs values.

I appreciate your perspective! I never thought about the Wall Street bail before. I’ve mainly focused on his health care policies. Nothing wrong with being an Asian nerd or a mastermind! Too bad we have been focused on the cinematic aspects of politics, instead of actual policies.

Thanks, healthcare is important, but I just put too much hope in Obama. I think Asians have quiet strength maybe that’s why they’re ignored. Former actors would be popular presidents I think, (like Reagan, yuck). I think before women could vote, the men argued that women would vote for the most handsome candidate, so they shouldn’t be given the vote. But everyone seems to do that!

Reagan was pretty terrible…damn you’re right hahahaha people do vote for the biggest man, unless he’s black of course
