Writing by hand is elegance in half-cursive,
sketching images onto expansive white in pen.
Show all the mistakes on purpose.
Turn faults into a new direction.
I taught myself to bandage and manage
my crippling perfectionistic tendencies
by using permanent pens vs impermanent pencils.
Instead of erasing I changed the terror of error
by incorporating, by re-routing, by relabeling
the art seemed to lead me to remake itself.
Handwriting is truly a lost art.
Whenever I come across a piece of truly elegant handwriting, I’m truly blown away.
What was so common to my father’s generation has become like ancient hieroglyphs in today’s age of laptops, tablets and smart phones.

Yes I think handwriting and drawing are related, it’s almost a lost visual art. Schools don’t think it’s important enough to teach anymore.
